Great Photography has to Start Somewhere

My brother-in-law’s dream is to be a professional photographer.  He takes some pretty good shots, but he’s had some mentorship — a friend and coworker of his was a professional photographer on the side, and his friend’s brother was a full-time professional photographer.  He’s done quite a few photoshoots with them, and they got him started using a professional-grade digital camera — important practice that he needed in order to be a photographer.

However, that’s not all he needs.  Many good photographers have taken classes or gotten a degree in photography from a good school, such as the Brooks photography school.  These photography programs teach students important principles of design and the makings of a good photograph — an education that is almost required in the competitive photography market.  Clients want to know that their photographers really have the training and experience to give them what they’re paying for!

When it comes down to it, photography is just like anything else in the job market — the more competition you have, the more you need to be able to prove your worth!
