The Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago is known to many simply as "chic". The word is an acronym for the name of the culinary arts school but it is apropos of the ambience that surrounds the education offered here.
There are many aspects of the Cooking Institute of Chicago which are best defined as "chic". Here are a few of them:
- Le Cordon Bleu program. What’s more chic than the French way of life? This school provides culinary arts training which is rooted in French traditions.
- Urban location. Chicago itself is a chic city and so it’s no surprise that a leading school located here is going to adopt the urban air that surrounds it.
- Creative students. The people who graduate from this cooking school frequently go on to open trendsetting restaurants which are notable for the forward-thinking creativity that they embody.
Cooking is an art that was once considered "dowdy". It was the bread and butter of the stay-at-home-mom’s life and that’s about all that it was. That’s not the case in today’s world. Cooking is now recognized as the important art that it is and "chic" schools like this one have helped that change to come about.
