There are two different types of Associates Degrees that you can get by attending Orlando culinary programs. The first is an Associates of Science (AS) which is the general type of Associates Degree that many people get at a traditional community college. The second is an Associates of Applied Science (AAS). As the name suggests, this latter degree provides a hands-on education that demonstrates to future employers how applicable your schooling really is to your career.

The Orlando Culinary Academy offers both types of Associates Degree. The AS degree is appropriate for those students who want to go into the restaurant management aspect of the business. Their future career positions require a theoretical, scientific understanding of the business of working in the culinary arts. When they apply for jobs, they will be able to point to the fact that they have spent time in school learning management and finance skills.

In contrast, the people who want to go from an Orlando Culinary School into a creative cooking position will need to show that they have hands-on experience in the kitchen. The AAS degree speaks to this end. Courses offered through the AAS program not only teach students about the science of cooking but also focus on the art and application of that science. Future employers will look at their job applications and see that these students have what it takes to apply their education to their work.
